Writing an administrative law essay can be challenging at times. This type of essay requires a lot of research on a topic that may be unfamiliar for most individuals. There are, however, effective essay writing tips and guidelines that are applicable on topics related to administrative law. Here are some of them:

Understand the essay enquiry thoroughly. The essay question dictates the flow of the essay; read through the enquiry carefully and note down any pertinent keywords. Determine what is being asked and aim to provide an answer suited specifically to that enquiry.

Refer to your textbook on administrative law as one of your principal sources of information. You may also look over the references cited in your textbooks and refer to them as well.

Always have your primary sources on hand. Have a copy of the act or law itself for reference purposes.

Go through any additional sources of information. Take notes of all resources used, and try to have printed copies of all the information to be included in the essay.

Organise all the information gathered in a law essay outline. Using an administrative law essay outline in preparing the essay can help determine how the researched information is to be presented as well as any significant sub-topics worthy to be discussed.

Write the first draught of the essay. Always refer to the outline when writing the essay to make sure that all pertinent information are included and that the flow of the essay is maintained.

Try to discuss other information that is not mainly about law, but also on topics related to law, such as economics or politics.

Try to keep the essay minimal in length. Be concise and straight to the point. Avoid the use of flowery words.

Take note to cite any references used in the essay. Avoid plagiarised contents and remember to use the style of referencing specified by the professor.

Edit and proofread the essay. These are two of the most important content quality measures that need to be done prior to submission. These corrective processes ensure the essay is as close to perfect as possible.

These are only a few techniques in writing an administrative law essay. For more information on administrative law essays and other types of law essays, visit the Law Essay homepage.

Titles are vital elements in all law essays. Short, crisp and snappy titles are attractive to the attention of the readers and make the readers gaze on the content of the essay. However the words are written and crafted in the title, still the bulk of readability factor always goes to the content of the law essay. A good law essay we always have good substance in it although the title are the ones that gets the attention of the readers. The job of the title is to attract the attention of the readers to read further the content of the law essay while the job of the writing style is to guide the readers through the course of the law essay. In effect, the law essay is more understandable and interesting to read.

Whatever the type of the law essay, the title must still encapsulate the main ideas found in the essay in an interesting and attention-grabbing manner. The more dynamic the title then the better is the readability of that law essay. There are no distinct or definite set of rules in writing titles for law essays since every law essay requires varied treatment. On the contrary, there are still fundamental guidelines to apply in creating and writing titles for law essays that will provide the foundation for a practical and flexible style of communication, and can easily adapt according to the needs of readers and writers alike. One of these guidelines is:

The use of the present tense and active verbs

A basic guiding principle in writing a good title is by following this guideline. Since the title is vital for effective communication to capture the readers’ interest then it should make them eye for the critical points in the law essay, improve their appetite for information, and excite and enlighten them of the distinctiveness of the law essay. Participial endings in –ing should be avoided in all instances when writing a title for the law essay. Always prefer the present tense of the verb.

Example:

New policy makes citizens more cautious (Present tense)

A new policy is making the citizens more cautious (With Participial ending)

The first example is livelier and more active. This efficient phrasing attracts readers’ preference for the law essay. It makes the law essay look current, modern and vibrant. However, the second example looks boring since the participial word prolongs the statement.

All in all, law essay titles must have an impartial tone as well as an accurate content. Law essay titles must not embody the opinion of the writer: the same opinion can be properly written and argued exhaustively in the body of the law essay.

Law essay writing involves good reasoning and a persuasive writing style. There are many ways expressing ideas in law essays. The main reason why there are many writing styles for law essay is to create ways of presenting ideas for law essays. Since law essays are legally difficult to understand by a regular individual. The main task of the writer is to write legal terms into simple words that are understandable to the general readers.

Here is the common mistakes that law essay writer does:

The use of tautology

Tautologies are very common in law essay. This is the main reason why law essays have more tendencies to become wordy compared to other essays. Writing law essays must be controlled in some ways in order to prevent wordiness. A tautology is a kind of repetition that reinforces the meaning of the word but sometimes may be taken as an exaggeration. Examples are: free gift, final conclusion, wrong mistake. The use of tautology is never advisable in law essays. This will just exaggerate the ideas you put in the law essay.

Prefer the active voice and action verbs

Action verbs and the active voice help your readers to easily understand the ideas you present in the law essay. Action verbs aid your subject to be the doer of the action and it animates your subject. This means that you are putting energy to your subject. On a bigger picture, action verbs make your law essay crisp to read. On the other hand, the use of the active voice often suggests straightforwardness of idea presentation. This is very advantageous in your law essay since you do not bore your readers with what you are trying to say.

Use foreign words and phrases sparingly

Law essays often use foreign words and phrases like Latin maxims and quotations. This may be acceptable, but if you want your readers to understand what you are trying to say then it is better to omit these foreign words altogether. Instead, use an English translation to your Latin term. Take note, however, that Latin maxims coupled with its English translation will just make your law essay tenuous and indefinite. You may want to sound scholarly but it is never proper for effective communication.

Many law essay writers fall into the trap of exaggerating the presentation of ideas. If you want to be an effective communicator, you should prefer simplicity over wordiness in writing law essays.

While few appreciate writing law essays, the activity of writing really improves brain power. Brain power refers to the ability of your brain to do different functions of thinking in the most accurate, efficient and effective way.

While few appreciate writing law essays, the activity of writing really improves brain power. Brain power refers to the ability of your brain to do different functions of thinking in the most accurate, efficient and effective way. You may not know that every time you write your law essay, you have increased the potential of your brain to grasp information and perform the cognitive and analytical functions of your brain less strenuously.

Creativity is the ultimate factor in order to increase the performance of the brain. If the brain is not used in an optimal manner you will suffer the loss of brain performance. Writing law essays is one of the effective ways to practice your cognitive and creative skills. Writing law essays improves your capacity to hold information and to compose written communications with ease.

Here are some ways to exercise creativity in writing law essays:

Think beyond what you can think

Never think the way you normally think. If you can surpass your normal thinking by exploring new avenues of thought then you are thinking creatively. Your law essay output will be more creative. So, how can you think beyond the way you think? It’s simple. Just think of all ideas you can think for your law essay and disregard it for a while. Then, think of other ideas you have not covered and researched about it for your law essay.

Prepare your law essay

After acquiring the ideas, you must know what ideas are necessary for your law essay. You can give simple answers to the what, when, where, who, why and how questions for your law essay. This will serve as your guide to prioritise your ideas.

Incubation

This is the period where you let your ideas gather due weight of consideration. In this stage, you stay away from writing for a while as you think for other ideas that you may have neglected that are also important for your law essay. This allows you to compare and contrast your ideas at the same time and judge the better ideas for your law essay.

Illumination

Aha! This is your “aha” moment. Illumination is similar to the symbolic lighted bulb blinking above your head. This is about learning a new or unique idea that can be used in your law essay. The more unique your ideas are, the better your law essay will be.

Verification

Always verify the truthfulness of your ideas. If you can make references then do it. The more references there are in your law essay, the more believable the ideas are.

All in all, the greatest contribution of creativity is that it continuously amazes the readers when reading your law essay. This is a rewarding compliment of your efforts that can attract even more readers.

Law essays and marketing are terms that may not coincide. Like putting a square peg on a round hole, it is difficult to market law essays since most people perceive law essays to be bland if not downright difficult to comprehend.

Law essays and marketing are terms that may not coincide. Like putting a square peg on a round hole, it is difficult to market law essays since most people perceive law essays to be bland if not downright difficult to comprehend. This is the challenge of every writer: How to market law essays. Marketing is a strategy to pull more readers in for your law essay. In marketing, you need to infuse promotional ideas regardless of the legal terms you write in the essay. Is it a rather tall order? So then, where do you start drawing the line for marketing and law essay to coincide?

Law essays need a sense of marketing in order to attract readers. Similarly, law essays need a sense of marketing to influence readers to appreciate the writer’s ideas. In this case, law essays must be written with the purpose of turning mere browsers into devoted readers of the essay. You must not settle for your law essays to be read by only a few persons.

Here are two effective ways of writing your law essay the marketing way:

Understand your readers

Who are your intended readers of your law essay? As a writer, you must know what is in the hearts of your readers. Never settle writing law essays without knowing the purpose of your law essay to your readers. In understanding your readers, you must be aware of your readers’ information needs that should ideally be reflected in your law essay. It is good to target niches or streamline specific reader groups rather than trying to please general readers in your law essay. Remember, the more readers you target for your law essay, the more complicated it is to satisfy them. If you want your law essay to be simpler and more understandable then you must keep a clear focus for your law essay.

Ask the right questions

As an essay writer, I know that you already have questions in mind that you want to answer in your law essay. This is one of the common techniques on how to build up ideas in the law essay. However, this should not be the case when writing marketable law essays. If you want a marketable sense for your law essay then you must answer the needs of your readers. Suspend for a moment your own thoughts for the essay and just consider this question: Do you know the needs of your intended readers? Sometimes, writers as we are, we tend to formulate our own questions and pour in our ideas in answering our own questions. This is a mortal sin when you want marketable law essays. Answering the needs of the readers must come first before your own ideas. This is marketing with reader sense in mind, first and foremost.

These two general marketing strategies are often neglected in writing law essays – basic and common but often neglected. Learn to constantly use these in composing your succeeding law essays and observe the difference from your last essays.

Maintaining readers’ interest, just like maintaining a good number of well-paying clients, is the main concern in law essays. More often than not, the moment readers know that they are about to pay particular attention to a law essay, they would somehow shun away from further reading it.

Maintaining readers’ interest, just like maintaining a good number of well-paying clients, is the main concern in law essays. More often than not, the moment readers know that they are about to pay particular attention to a law essay, they would somehow shun away from further reading it. The apparent gag effect could be the result of a prevailing – but misplaced and unfounded – public perception that law essays are dull, tortuous and too technical. The challenge of every law essay writer, then, is how to invite and entice readers to peruse completely their law essays.

When you want to entice readers to read your law essay, you must be able to simplify jargons and similar complicated terms considering that these are the primary barriers of creating understandable law essays. However, the journey in writing law essays does not end in doing away with legal jargons and complicated terms. Good law essays can only be made when there are good accumulated ideas throughout the essay. Well accumulated ideas mean that the thoughts are continuously flowing and follow a certain logical pattern of presentation in the law essay rather than the same ideas being given a somewhat forced and awkward association.

The writing style plays an important part in creating a compendium of ideas. When you write sentence after sentence for the law essay, you might be prone to forming jagged ideas. Jagged ideas are formed when you let the readers think about the relationship of the sentences one after the other in the law essay. Thus you tend to give your readers the burden of associating different ideas. It is the duty of the writer to assure that the connectivity between and among the sentences in the law essay can be well understood by the readers. In this respect, the cumulative writing style is very appropriate in writing law essays that exude lighter expressions.

Cumulative writing styles entail the use of an independent clause followed by a series of subordinates that further explain or give description to the subject found in the independent clause. You can also use dashes to separate the subordinates from the independent clause. This writing style is synonymous with trying to present a delicately expressive tapestry; that is why it is good at maintaining readers’ interest in and continuing attention for the law essay. Readers like more picturesque law essays rather than dealing with abstract, ethereal ideas. Take the example below:

Conflicts and verbal arguments and their resolutions, a lawyer’s pride and his fate, clashes and reconciliation, revenge or forgiveness, clients condemned or acquitted; abidingness versus violation – these are the common situations in the legal field.

In the example, you can easily detect the subordinates. Common situations in the legal field are further expressed using the subordinates. In the same manner with the example, the main subject of your law essay can easily be explained using this writing style. In fine this writing style is very appropriate in giving detailed explanations for your law essay.

In all law papers you have to draft – whether it be an A-level law paper, business law paper, contract exam paper or a law question paper, you have to keep only three things in mind: the answer, the legal basis and the application of the law to the facts of the case.
Formal discourses in the field of law always pose a certain legal question, to which you have to provide your answer to. Your answer also may reflect your stand on a certain legal question. At the onset of the paper, a legal writer must provide the answer to the query posed on him or her. The answer must be stated clearly and briefly. Care must be taken so as not to sound ambivalent. A good lawyer or law writer always takes a stand on a certain issue.
In writing law papers, giving the answer is not enough. One must provide the legal bases to justify one’s answer or the standpoint that one has taken. The legal bases – applicable government regulations, acts, statutes and other relevant legislations of the Parliament must be laid down in arguing one’s stand. An answer without providing any bases is like a chair with its legs cut off: the answer will not stand on its own. A lawyer or law writer’s job is to argue to win his case – and his weapon is the law and his mastery of its usage. This is the reason for the importance of citing the pertinent law.
In a corollary manner, one could not just sprout out legal doctrines in writing law papers just because they seem to be related to the case. The facts of the case must fit squarely with well-settled cases and established jurisprudence cited, and that the laws must be totally applicable to the scenario given and such must be shown clearly in the same manner that one writes English essays – direct and to the point. An essay writing services company may be availed of to assist one on this matter. To this end, the essay writing service preferred must specialise in custom written law papers.

Known as the legal system of England and Wales, English law forms the basis of legal systems on common law in most Commonwealth countries and even in the United States. It is important to understand its technical definition for the writer of an essay on English law to arrive at the most suitable writing approach. An English law essay, therefore, covers a wide niche of topics that discuss the different aspects of English law.

In choosing a topic for English law essays, it helps to get familiar with the most common matters under english law. Below are some of them:

Business legal issues – commercial transactions and employment issues, including laws pertaining to companies
Claims for financial compensation – can be applied to individuals, professionals, companies and organisations
Consumer law – your rights as a consumer
Crime – covers the definition and provision of penalties on certain offenses
Custody/children’s issues – parental rights to their children; problems with marriage contract, custody, or residence transfers
Divorce – agreements on marital separation; severance of marital bonds
Property law – includes estate administration, eminent domain, expropriation and international property purchases

In English law essay writing, using any of these popular topics will ensure your paper a good readership, if you use proper treatment. As it pertains to matters of law, your best approach is to use case studies and find as much related materials as you can. Review the subject in question and draw out the crux of the issue, then write the essay arguments showing your analysis. A good essay should be backed up by supporting facts – use your reference materials for this. An extensive bibliography and the apt use of reference materials will not only show that you have done your research well, but it will also give you a vast storehouse of ideas in writing your essay on English law.
As pertains the format, most English essay writing follows the introduction-body-conclusion structure which also applies to your English essays, or any college essay for that matter. In sum, selecting the proper citations, proofreading for punctuation and spelling errors, and checking for grammar completes your English law essay.

Describing certain situations is important in law essays. If you are writing and explaining about the scope, limitations and principles behind a certain policy or law in the essay, then better support it with good examples. Nothing beats detailing a situation in your law essay in order to create a concrete illustration where that certain policy or law is applied.

To generate intensity in discussion, there are times when situations must be written with continuous flow of ideas in the law essay. This is the only way readers can easily follow the points and the important events you stated in the law essay. Cumulatively the presence of specific situations and examples in your law essay is very advantageous to give clarity to the essay. Your readers can easily determine the scope and other things that are under the scope of a certain policy or law.

The freight-train writing style is very applicable in stating illustrative or hypothetical situations in your law essay. This writing style involves the more frequent use of conjunctions than the use of punctuations especially the period (.). Periods imply a distinct pause and a discontinuity of ideas in the law essay. If you want continuity in your law essay, then do away with a lot of periods when narrating. Below is an example of a freight-train writing style:

Law essays must be written with clarity and clarity means that your ideas in the essay are also consistent with what your readers perceive when reading the essay and these ideas must also be credible enough so that readers would have no doubts in believing what you have said.

Take the example above and notice the particular use of the conjunction and. The use of conjunctions in place of the period is an effective way of creating continuity of thoughts in your law essay. However you must also evaluate if your law essay would not sound like a children’s story book. You must still maintain the level of seriousness in your law essay.

The only limiting factor in using the freight-train writing style is that it gives no room for emphasis in the sentences formed in the law essay. This style cannot create emphasis because it is merely used to narrate and connect related ideas. In effect, the functional use of this writing style is just to connect or link the ideas into single sentences rather than create multiple sentences in the essay.

In conclusion, the freight-train writing style must not be the only writing style you should use in the law essay. You can use this style if you want to narrate some ideas in your law essay. If you want emphasis, then you may adopt the segregating sentence writing style.

Clarity refers to your ability to let your readers clearly visualise what you want them to visualise. Clarity is important in all law essays.

Clarity refers to your ability to let your readers clearly visualise what you want them to visualise. Clarity is important in all law essays. Law essays need to be clear in order to be credible and to deliver the right kind of thoughts. Among all essays, it is a mortal sin for law essays to be ambiguous. Ambiguity in law essays can cloud and confuse the judgments of the reading audience.

The challenge in writing law essays is clarity. Clarity is not just applicable on the thoughts you write. Clarity of thoughts must also be captured by your readers. This means that your readers can easily digest what you want them to know in the law essay. However the complexity of legal terms makes law essays challenging to write with clarity.

Skills are necessary to translate legal terms into something readily understandable. Here are some tips for your law essay in order to write simply while rightly explaining the legal terms in it:

Know how to express your ideas

Doing a law essay is writing to the point. You must know how to express your ideas in the essay without sounding too offensive or mean to your readers. The use of certain legal terms may offend or even put off your readers from further reading your law essay. Before writing any law essay, think of the legal terms that you are going to use and then think of how you can explain these into simple terms to your readers.

Communicate well

The main message in law essays must be communicated well to your readers. It is a mortal sin to write your law essay if you cannot get the message right across to your readers. Different ideas in the law essay must be complemented with the right expression. You must see to it that your ideas are in consonance with your expressions for the law essay.

Important topics must be covered in the essay

Law essays seem complicated because of legal jargons. Thus omit jargons to save some space in your law essay. Remember that law essays must be kept concise and not wordy. Wordiness can hinder the important topics from being covered sufficiently in a law essay.

Above all, clarity of ideas in the law essay is best observed when you have all the needed ideas for the subject matter. The presence of facts, evidences and references are important factors that can add to the composition of your law essay.
